Strung Has Me Sprung, Stunned, & Done

(WARNING - A FEW SPOILERS)

MUST SEE THRILLER!
MUST SEE THRILLER!

i just finished watching STRUNG, the new thriller streaming on Peacock, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, written by Alan B. McElroy, Matt Mixon, and Felecia Teter, and produced by an impressive team that includes Tyler Perry.

I'm shook. This movie had me in a chokehold from the opening scene to the very last frame.

Young violinist Laila, beautifully portrayed by Chloe Bailey, dreams of taking her music to the next level, but the trauma of her past keeps holding her back. Her best friend Jasmine, played by the always captivating Coco Jones, pushes her out of her comfort zone, leading her straight into the muscular arms of the charming Marcus (Lucien Laviscount).

After their one-night stand, Laila is approached at the school where she teaches music by the mysterious Audra, deliciously played by Lynn Whitfield. Audra invites Laila to move into her daughter's lavish home to tutor her granddaughter, Zuri, portrayed by the incredibly talented Romy Woods. Although Zuri's very pregnant mother (Anna Diop) is immediately suspicious of Laila, Laila gradually earns Zuri's trust and helps her remove the literal emotional mask she's been hiding behind.

Everything seems to be falling into place—until Zuri's stepfather walks through the door. To Laila's horror...it's Marcus. My jaw literally hit the floor. I usually see twists coming, but this one completely blindsided me.

From there, the suspense kicks into overdrive. A mysterious woman claiming to be Zuri's paternal grandmother appears, revealing shocking secrets about a family trust and raising questions about whether Zuri's father really died by suicide. Suddenly, nothing is what it seems, and it becomes clear that Marcus and Audra are hiding something sinister. Determined to uncover the truth, Laila risks everything—and nearly loses her life in the process.

The writing, directing, performances, and production value are all top-notch. This was a tense, edge-of-your-seat thriller that kept me guessing until the very end.

I highly recommend STRUNG. If you're looking for a thriller with great performances, unexpected twists, and plenty of suspense, don't miss this one.
