Someone once said, "Don't judge your insides by other people's outsides." That has stayed with me.
When we compare ourselves to others, we almost always come up short. Someone will always seem prettier, smarter, more talented, or more successful. But the truth is, we all have our own path, our own gifts, and our own purpose. No one has more value than anyone else.
There was a time in my life when I hated what I saw in the mirror. After a lot of soul-searching, I realized I had internalized the trauma I experienced as a child. I believed the painful things that happened to me meant I wasn't worthy—that I was somehow unlovable.
Healing came through forgiveness—of others and of myself. I finally understood that I am not what happened to me. Today, I love myself, not because of how I look or what I've accomplished, but because when I look in the mirror, I see a child of God. And that worth isn't based on beauty, talent, intelligence, or money. It's based on who He says I am.
So here's my unsolicited advice: Celebrate other people's beauty, success, and gifts. Cheer them on wholeheartedly. Just don't use their blessings as the measuring stick for your own worth.

That title really hits home for me because it's so easy to compare our messy, behind-the-scenes reality to someone else's polished highlight reel.
