In 2021, in Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living, Season 2, Episode 4, called “The Triangle,” Anastasia Devereaux, portrayed by Alretha Thomas, moved into Pleasant Days Assisted Living Facility. She immediately captured the attention of Vinny, portrayed by J. Anthony Brown, and retired Judge, Reginald June, portrayed by veteran actor, Damien Leake. The men almost went to blows to win her affection. Anastasia let both men down easy and suggested that the trio start out as friends and play it by ear, letting things play out naturally.
Over the past four years, their friendship and love for each other has grown, but neither man has staked a real claim on Anastasia’s heart. However, their affection for her is often on display, especially when any outside suitors appear. Both men, over the years, have found ways to sabotage any of Anastasia’s potential romantic relationships. There was even one episode, in 2023, called “Cupid Don’t Lie,” wherein, Efe, a fellow Pleasant Days resident, portrayed by Chet Anekwe, professed his love for Anastasia and even went as far as proposing to her. During this episode, Judge June declared that Anastasia was supposed to marry him, albeit he had never proposed. By the way, Efe was only after a green card.
It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming seasons and episodes. Will Vinny or Judge June put a ring on it, becoming Anastasia’s ninth husband, or will someone else steal Anastasia’s heart, leaving both men lovelorn? Based on popular opinion, whoever ends up becoming Anastasia’s ninth husband, he’s going to be one lucky guy!
