In a world where 74% of television programs and 90% of movies depict violence, THE FORGE, a 2024 American Christian biblical drama film directed by Alex Kendrick and co-written by Stephen Kendrick, is inspirational and a breath of fresh air. A sequel to the WAR ROOM, the film follows the lives of Cynthia Wright, played by Priscilla Shirer and her nineteen year old son, Isaiah Wright, played by Aspen Kennedy. Both actors deliver powerful performances crackling with conviction.
In the beginning of the film, it’s clear that Cynthia is at a loss for how to put her son, Isaiah, on the right path. Fed up, she gives him an ultimatum. Get a job or move in with one of your homies. Isaiah opts for employment. This decision leads him to Moore’s Gym where unbeknownst to him, he finds more than a job. Joshua Moore, the owner of the gym, masterfully played by Cameron Arnett, becomes Isaiah’s mentor and Isaiah’s life changes. The transformation of Isaiah will fill your heart with hope and your eyes with tears.
The story lays out a blueprint on how to raise a God fearing, responsible, and respectable man. While watching, I wanted to bottle up this blueprint and give it away free to every family in the world.
During the film, we were treated to cameos by actors from The War Room, including Karen Abercrombie, who plays a steadfast prayer warrior in the film and T.C. Stallings, who plays Isaiah’s Uncle. The movie included a perfect cast of supporting actors, including the versatile actress, Courtney Nichole, who plays Tammy with boldness and sass. You may recognize her from Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living where she portrays Leah Washington. Her quips and performance filled the theater with raucous laughter.
If you’re looking for an inspirational, power packed film, go see the THE FORGE. Now playing in theaters.
